To access Ministry of Health funding for reduced fees patients must be registered with one medical centre and this is why “casual” patients are charged higher consultation fees.

Our surgery belongs to the Pegasus Primary Health Organisation – they provide our funding and subsidies for some of our patients including:

Sexual Health/Contraception: six free visits per year for 14-17 year olds + Low Cost Contraception Consultations available for Women over 18 (criteria applies)
Free Flu Vaccinations for some patients
Free Under 6 year old consultations
Free Under 14 year olds consultations
Free recalls for mammograms and cervical cancer screening
Free care for ill patients requiring extended treatments e.g .IV antibiotics or prolonged observation for acute illnesses such as asthma or chest pain requiring ECG’s and nebulisers
Free care for terminally ill patients
Free childhood immunisations
Discount consultation fees for community services card holders

We invite all new patients to come in for a free 15 minute appointment with one of our nurses prior to your first GP consultation.

This time is used to collect information about your medical care which will streamline quality time with your doctor. Please be sure to advise when booking that this is a “new patient consult” with the nurse.
